What do I need to start a website?

Building a website for your business is essential to put your name out there in the online media world! Whether you are a small business that would like to connect a website to your Facebook page, TripAdvisor, or start having an online presence, a website is always a professional way to go. You only need to start with a business name, ideas on how you will present your content and information, some colors that you would like to add to your business, and some pictures, and you are ready to go online!

The techical parts about building a website can be a little tedious. Thus we try to simplify it quickly here. First, you need a domain name. That is, something that looks like: mybusinessname.com. We need to check availability of the name you desire as many people may think of similar names or have similar businesses. Second, you need a space online to put all your files: i.e. pictures, written content, and things that will go on the website. This is called server space. You can choose whether to share a space with someone, or have an entire server space dedicated to your business (an entire server is more suitable for bigger companies). Lastly, You need to connet these, maintain them and update them, get security, you can optionally get emails with your businessname.com, and also, you can choose to make an online store if that's what's needed. To make an online store is usually more costly and lengthy to build but once set up, it's easier to go about getting familiar with the store. It would also require many other details such as banking, taxes, etc.

In summary, if you just want your site to have your information and your businesses information to create more customer likes on your social media pages and establish a legitimate name in the online business, it is usually cheaper than those who need websites to buy and sell products, or who need to have calendars, appointments, and other interactive features for their clients.
